Overview
NASDAQ's newly improved ACT Workstation for Clearing Firms is an inexpensive browser-based application that assists firms in more easily managing their risk exposure. The ACT Workstation requires internet or extranet connectivity.

Features and Benefits
The ACT Workstation for Clearing Firms has an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI). Features include:
  • Refined total buying and selling power limits
  • Fine-tuned blockbuster and sizeable limit settings
  • Time saving Smart Searches
  • Trade notifications can be delivered through email and cell phone
  • Trade blocking critical trades on the fly
  • Manage your summary risk exposure by market participant and security.
  • Segregation of locked in and eligible trade limits and notifications for more control over your brokers
  • Detailed alerts that help you make split decisions on sensitive trades
  • See your summary risk exposure and gross trade amounts by stock and firm.
  • Enhanced trade entry with clearing price, and improved trade analysis, including VWAP and Total Trade Price
  • Searches will offer historical trade dates, return up to 2,000 trades for each search and provide sorting and filtering capabilities.
  • Trade searches can be exported to Excel and PDF.

Who Can Participate
  • Generally, customers must be FINRA members.
  • To apply, your firm must have a clearing arrangement. To set up a clearing arrangement, have your clearing agency call National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC) at 212.412.8623.

How to Subscribe or Update Service
The first step it to determine which type of connectivity is right for your firm — internet or extranet. Work with your provider to determine how much bandwidth your firm needs.

NASDAQ market participants can subscribe for new connectivity or update an existing service by completing the NASDAQ Front-End Access Order Form (PDF) and fax it to NASDAQ Subscriber Services at 212.231.5426.

To set up a give-up relationship enabling an executing broker-dealer to submit trades on behalf of a participating broker-dealer:

Connectivity Options
Subscribers can connect via the Internet in the following ways:
  • Internet Service Provider (ISP) that a subscriber contracts on its own
  • Subscriber’s own proprietary direct connection to the public Internet

You may also connect via an approved connectivity provider.

System Requirements and Security
The ACT Workstation may be accessed on the following operating systems:
  • Windows 2000,
  • Windows XP

Please note that Netscape Navigator is not supported.

Users must have Internet Explore 6.0 or higher and Java Script must be enabled.

The ACT Workstation will let you know if you do not have the acceptable versions of these items by prompting you with an informational page upon log-in.
